Boat Tour to Boca San Carlos
We will take a boat that will take us along the majestic San Carlos River towards the border with Nicaragua. During the tour you will be able to observe birds, turtles, monkeys, iguanas and the impressive crocodiles that inhabit it. We will arrive at a small community called Boca San Carlos, its name refers to the mouth of the San Carlos River, Costa Rica in the San Juan River, Nicaragua; there we will make a small tour and if you wish you can enjoy a natural soft drink offered by local people.

Kayak Safari Tour
What could be more relaxing than the water! And if we add to this a great diversity of flora and fauna? That is why the kayak tour is one of the experiences that will remain in the memory of our guests. We will take a local truck that will take us to the Tres Amigos River, where the adventure begins; monkeys, iguanas, turtles and a variety of birds will be part of the company on this journey. Suddenly the impressive San Carlos River will open to our eyes and will be in charge of taking us to the lodge. Seasonal fruits and fresh water will close the tour with a flourish.

Guided Nature Hike (Day or Night)
To literally immerse yourself in the immensity of a forest, where silence, sounds and expectation are mixed, is an experience that you should not miss. Walk the trails of our reserve during the day or at night and enjoy the wonders that nature gives us. Place: Hacienda Boca Tapada 2km from the lodge. Short trail: 1.5 km. Long trail: 4 km (Low to medium difficulty).

Three Friends River Boat Safari
For those who do not wish to paddle, the boat option is an excellent alternative to explore the San Carlos River and dive into a small jungle in the waters of the Tres Amigos River, where birds, iguanas, monkeys, majestic macaws and crocodiles will be the main characters of this experience.

King Vulture Observation & Photography
Would you like to photograph or simply admire the beauty of the majestic king vulture? You will take your vehicle 1.5 km from our lodge where you can appreciate the beauty of the king vulture at a fixed point while feeding complementary to this, you will observe different species of birds in their feeding areas and natural habitats.
Bird Watching
Did you know that Costa Rica has more than 900 species of birds? Boca Tapada is home to many of them. We will start early in the morning with our guide walking through the trails of our Hacienda Boca Tapada reserve, where you will observe a diversity of bird species in their natural habitat to photograph or just keep the memory in your mind and admire. Depending on the season the tour takes place inside the hotel facilities and in the surroundings, ending just in time to enjoy breakfast.

Plant a Tree, Plant Life (Leave Your Mark)
Boca Tapada Lodge has a reserve of 270 hectares, of which 200 are forest and 20 reforestation. Our commitment to the environment is to continue adding forests so that together we can make a change. If you wish to plant a tree, please request it at the time of reservation. It is a complementary initiative of the hotel to generate greater awareness and leave your mark on our country.
Tortilla Making Class
What could be more delicious than an afternoon of tortillas and coffee? With our class you will learn how to make traditional Costa Rican tortillas completely to your liking, and enjoy them hot accompanied by a traditional coffee.

- ✓ Children 0 to 4 years old participate for free.
- ✓ Children 5 to 10 years old pay 50% of the price per person.
- ✓ All prices include taxes.
⏰ Cancellations by the Guest
- • Between 48 and 24 hours before the tour: 50% cancellation fee.
- • Less than 24 hours' notice or no-show: 100% cancellation fee.
🌦️ Weather Conditions
Some tours depend on the weather. If a tour must be modified or cancelled for safety, we offer rescheduling or tour changes. No cancellation fees apply for adverse weather.
